Join the Consumer Group (CG) AI team and take a pivotal leadership role driving the development and deployment of AI-native and Embedded AI experiences for millions of TurboTax and Credit Karma customers. We are building the next generation of financial products fueled by and injected into Generative AI and Agentic experiences, with a mission to deliver prosperity around the world.
You will be a highly technical and results-oriented leader, responsible for overseeing dynamic teams of Software Engineers and Embedded AI Scientists. You will serve as a hands-on engineering mentor and strategic driver, specializing in leveraging Generative AI, Agentic systems, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to solve complex customer problems and unlock new business opportunities.
You will drive rapid, iterative delivery, constantly uphold a high-quality bar, and strategically unblock your teams to ensure maximum velocity and performance. Success in this role requires a strong balance of deep technical fundamentals, business acumen, and exceptional cross-functional partnership across the functions including Product, Legal, Security, and Design.
Responsibilities
- AI-Native Product Delivery: deliver high-quality, customer-driven software offerings including Embedded AI, MCP, and Agent-enabled capabilities. This role is an AI-savvy engineering role, not a pure AI science management position.
- Technical & visionary leadership: provide strong technical leadership and strategic guidance, inspiring teams to adopt cutting-edge AI tooling and innovations that fuel efficiency and quality in delivery and company growth.
- Engineering & operational excellence expanded to AI: drive adoption of best practices, tools, and metrics across the organization. Create and drive new testing and quality evaluation techniques, and deliver automation to ensure solution robustness in new areas around AI and Embedded AI experiences.
- Talent management & team building: lead, mentor and hire a high-performing, results-oriented organization. Manage career development, objectives, and priorities of all reporting staff.
- Strategic collaboration: act as an expert communicator, fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders (Product Management, Analytics, Design) to ensure technology reuse, architecture health, and common outcomes for high-stakes company-level initiatives.
- AI-native expertise: spot appropriate applications for leveraging agentic, generative AI, MCP, and other cutting-edge technologies to solve complex questions or fuel new business opportunities.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience with a minimum of two years of proven track record leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Hands-on engineering leader who can nurture and work with highly motivated, talented engineers on high-visibility online product.
- Hands-on expertise leading teams that ship software including Agentic capabilities Generative AI, MCP, etc.
- Able to spot appropriate applications for leveraging these technologies to solve complex problems.
- Comfortable working on all tiers of modern applications, from Front End to database, with strong exposure to Enterprise Java platforms.
- Expert communicator and love working with multiple stakeholders for common outcomes with high stakes at company level.
- Strong business acumen: understands internal and external business landscape and thinks/acts strategically for all stakeholders.
- Drives strategic technology & architecture health, and development process improvement.
- Highly technical and result-oriented leader experienced in determining goals and matching them with customer requirements and product roadmap. Adept at leading positive change, empowering people, cultivating product technology visions, innovative solutions, and fostering effective engineering teams.

Bay Area, California: $238,500-322,500
Southern California: $222,000-300,500
