Cloud Platform Engineer

*Fully onsite in Glasgow*

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join a delivery team supporting a large-scale cloud transformation programme within a complex, enterprise environment. This role offers the opportunity to design, build, and deploy scalable cloud platforms while collaborating with multiple technical and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy cloud-based application and platform solutions integrating both cloud and on-premise infrastructure
• Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure and platform environments
• Create and validate proof-of-architecture solutions, assessing security, performance, and scalability
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and guidance across teams
• Take ownership of team-level technical decisions and contribute to cross-team architectural discussions
• Engage with multiple stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure alignment on platform design and implementation
• Develop innovative cloud solutions to improve operational efficiency and platform reliability
• Conduct regular reviews and assessments of cloud architecture to identify improvements and optimisation opportunities
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, tools, and best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer or in a similar role
• Advanced proficiency in Python
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, particularly AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
• Solid experience working with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and platform engineering principles
• Experience designing and deploying secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud solutions
• Ability to work across multiple teams and contribute to enterprise-level technical decisions

Desirable Skills

• Experience with broader cloud infrastructure tooling and automation
• Exposure to large-scale enterprise delivery environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
