Migration engineer (Linux) (Contract)

Location: Milton Keynes Country: UK Rate: £540 per day
 

Job Opportunity: Migration engineer (Linux Migration)

Linux, Migration, SC, NPPV3, CentOS, RHEL, Kubernetes

Location: Milton Keynes office with occasional visits to the client site in Birmingham.

Work Schedule: 5 days per week, on-site only (no remote work)

Clearance: Candidates must possess NPPV3 AND SC clearance.
 
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, regular working hours.

Rate: £540 per day (OUTSIDE IR35).

Duration: 3 month rolling

About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Migration engineer to join a team. This role is crucial for our public sector client, requiring top-level security and expertise in Linux migration projects. You will work in a secure environment with no option for remote work due to the sensitivity of the projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Linux Migration: Lead and execute the migration process efficiently.
  • Network Configuration: Set up and manage network environments, ensuring security and compliance.
  • OS Management: Oversee the management of operating systems, with a focus on CentOS and RHEL 8&9.
  • Automated Deployments: Create and maintain automated deployment pipelines.
  • Documentation: Produce detailed documentation and follow client specifications, offering expert suggestions.
  • Security Hardening: Implement security-enhanced Linux configurations and security hardening practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Expertise in CentOS and RHEL 8&9.
  • Proficient in automated deployment and pipeline maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with network configurations, including Firewall and SELinux.
  • Proficient in Yum package management and dependency resolution.
  • Skilled in building and configuring RHEL Satellite Server for air-gapped environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed team with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A university degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant domain experience.
