Java Software Engineer (Permanent)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Country: UK

One of the UK's top Tech Organisations are looking for a Java Software Engineer to join their Edinburgh-based office on a hybrid basis (2 days per week). Genuinely a world-class office set-up, really modern tech and good salary + benefits on offer.

They are one of the UK's leading companies in supplying top of the range hardware and software to some of the most well-known tech giants. They've been operating for over 40 years now and they're recognised world-wide - it's an extremely established organisation and environment.

You'd be joining an Edinburgh based team of roughly 11 Software Engineers, of varying levels of experience. You'd be tasked to help create software tools for their wider Engineering community, that ideally help to improve the quality of their work, automate processes and ultimately saving them and the business time. In addition, you'll regularly be involved in developing a number of the businesses core products and integration projects - it will be a varied role, with plenty to keep you busy.

The team predominantly work in Java, so are ideally looking for someone with several years of commercial experience. However, given the nature of their work, they've suggested it would suit a pretty adaptable Engineer that's able to pick up technologies pretty easily - as they believe in the "best tool fits".

Given the nature of the work they do, the company are really big on best practices and following software fundamentals, so if you've worked within a similar environment then you'll likely be a good fit here.

You'll ideally have the following;

* Good commercial experience with Java

* Knowledge/experience with JavaFX or Swing

* Solid experience in Software Testing (Unit, Automation etc)

Experience with the following is highly beneficial;

* Build Automation tools (ie Gradle or Maven)

* Continuous Integration tools

* Working within a product environment

The company have a great culture (and a solid Glassdoor page to boast) it's highly unlikely anyone has a short stint here as many of the Engineering team have been with the business for several years. They're great at offering Engineers opportunities for upskilling, L&D, career progression and really respecting their employee's work to life balance.

In return, they're offering a strong salary (happy to provide full info prior to application) for this role + a range of strong benefits (8% Bonus, 8% Pension, 33 days holiday package and a good training budget to match). Their offices are based in central Edinburgh where they would expect you onsite about twice a week, however they really do have a world-class set up, with their own top of the range gym, sound-proofed music room, and so much more.

If you're keen to find out more, please apply and/or drop Douglas Paget at Cathcart Technology a message via Linkedin for an informal chat.
