Python Developer - Geospatial/GIS

Location- Fully remote

Contract Term- 6 months

We are seeking a highly skilled Python Developer with strong GIS expertise to join a team working on geospatial data solutions. This role focuses on the design, development, and support of geospatial data pipelines, applications, and APIs, using modern open-source technologies.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working with large-scale raster and vector datasets, building robust ETL pipelines, and contributing to high-quality software solutions that support data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines for large-scale raster, vector, and tabular datasets
  • Build and support Python-based applications and geospatial data services
  • Integrate external and internal data sources via REST APIs
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, product owners, business analysts, and systems analysts
  • Apply industry best practices for software development, governance, and maintainability
  • Work with Quality Assurance teams to ensure high-quality, reliable delivery
  • Conduct technical and benefit analysis for IT solutions and contribute to technology direction
  • Research, design, implement, and manage new software programs
  • Enhance and modify existing systems to improve performance and functionality
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures
  • Support deployment of software tools, processes, and metrics
  • Maintain, upgrade, and support existing platforms and services
Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree (Computer Science, Geospatial Science, Engineering, or related discipline)
  • Proven experience designing and building applications using Python
  • Strong experience working across multiple operating systems and platforms
  • Solid understanding of modern software development practices and tools

  • Demonstrable experience in a dedicated Python development role (beyond ad-hoc Scripting)

2. Strong GIS Expertise

  • Hands-on experience working with GIS concepts and datasets
  • experience with large raster datasets is highly desirable
