DevOps Engineer - SC Cleared - Public Sector
Location: Remote with occasional travel to London
Rate: £525 (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: Initial 3-6 month contract

We are seeking an SC-cleared DevOps Engineer to support the delivery of a central government digital programme, building, operating and supporting AWS-based cloud platforms within UK-hosted, multi-account environments. The role focuses on delivering infrastructure as code, enabling reliable CI/CD pipelines, and operating resilient live services, while embedding security-by-design and public sector compliance standards throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Essential Skills

Experience delivering and operating AWS-based solutions in UK-hosted, multi-account environments

Strong understanding of DevOps practices, automation and CI/CD

Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform

Experience with CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins

Containerisation experience using Docker and Amazon ECS and/or EKS

Experience operating and supporting live services, including monitoring, logging and alerting

Knowledge of AWS security controls including IAM, KMS, CloudTrail and GuardDuty

Experience working within public sector, regulated or assurance-driven environments

Strong communication skills, able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Active SC Clearance and NPPV3 eligibility (mandatory)
Key Responsibilities

Build, configure and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code

Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for application and platform teams

Support application and data migration into AWS cloud environments

Operate and support live services, including monitoring, logging and alerting

Design and maintain highly available, performant and resilient cloud platforms

Support release management, cutover and service transition activities

Investigate and resolve infrastructure, deployment and performance issues

Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks

Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary delivery teams
