We are seeking a lead data scientist to lead the development of machine learning models and Business Intelligence projects, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Analyse various data sources to deliver data-driven and actionable insights for small and medium-sized enterprises within the network.
- Develop sophisticated multivariate models and analytic solutions, such as dashboards and machine learning models, using complex statistical and data science techniques.
- Work independently to identify insights opportunities from data, even with ambiguous requirements.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams and business partners to facilitate their use of insights from data.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to combine, interrogate, and manipulate large data sets using big data tools such as Hadoop and Spark.
- Extensive Experience with programming languages, particularly Python, and various statistics and machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn and PySpark.
- Understanding of trade-offs between machine learning model validation metrics like AUC and recall to optimise model performance based on business needs.
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
- Capability to communicate directly with business partners to translate statistical findings into business insights.
- Experience with Business Intelligence visualisation tools like Tableau, Domo, and Power BI is highly preferred.
- Experience in optimising big data ETL pipelines is preferred.

- Experience in deploying machine learning models to cloud-based production environments.
- Proficiency with Databricks.
- Experience with the innovative application of Generative AI in commercial settings.

- Solid foundation in software engineering, with a focus on high code quality, effective version control, and rigorous testing practices.
