Role Overview
The SAP Defence & Security Maintenance & Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimisation of SAP Maintenance & Engineering (EAM/PM) processes within a defence environment. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, reliability, and operational readiness of defence assets, fleets, and equipment.

The consultant will lead SAP PM configuration, maintenance planning, and execution processes, while ensuring tight integration with SAP MM, FI, and other SAP D&S components.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Leadership

• Lead the SAP Maintenance & Engineering (PM/EAM) workstream within SAP Defence & Security programmes.
• Translate defence maintenance and engineering requirements into SAP D&S/PM solutions.
• Act as the functional lead and subject matter expert for maintenance processes.

SAP PM/EAM Configuration

• Implement and configure SAP PM processes including:
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Maintenance plans, task lists, and maintenance strategies
  • Work orders and notifications
  • Equipment, functional locations, and serialised assets
• Support complex asset structures for fleets, weapons systems, vehicles, and equipment.

Planning & Scheduling

• Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and capacity planning.
• Support long-term and short-term maintenance planning for defence operations.
• Optimise task scheduling to ensure asset availability and mission readiness.

Integration

• Ensure seamless integration with:
  • SAP MM for spare parts, inventory, and procurement
  • SAP FI/CO for cost tracking, settlement, and budgeting
  • SAP D&S modules for logistics, operations, and readiness reporting
• Support interfaces with external defence and engineering systems where required.

Testing, Migration & Deployment

• Support data migration for equipment, maintenance history, and master data.
• Lead unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Support cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure maintenance processes comply with defence regulations, safety standards, and security requirements.
• Support role design and authorisations in line with secure environments.

Stakeholder & Team Management

• Work closely with defence stakeholders, engineers, planners, and logistics teams.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and training to client teams and junior consultants.
• Support change management and user adoption.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• 5+ years of SAP PM/EAM experience.
• Hands-on experience implementing SAP Maintenance & Engineering processes.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Experience integrating SAP PM with MM and FI/CO.
• Experience in defence, aerospace, public sector, or regulated industries.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Experience with SAP Defence & Security (D&S/DFPS).
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Asset Management.
• Knowledge of fleet management, MRO, or military engineering environments.
• Security clearance (SC/DV) or eligibility to obtain.
