Next Ventures are currently executing a search for an experienced SAP inventory management, logistics execution SME for a (SAP D&S, DFPS) SAP Defence & Security (DFPS/D&S) programme within a highly secure, regulated environment.

Role Overview
The experienced inventory management, logistics execution SME,SAP Military Operations Lead is responsible for designing, configuring, and leading SAP Defence & Security (D&S/DFPS) solutions supporting military operational processes. The role focuses on procurement, inventory management, logistics execution, and operational readiness, ensuring seamless integration across SAP modules and compliance with defence regulations.

The consultant will act as the functional lead for military operations, working closely with defence stakeholders, logistics commands, and system integrators to deliver robust, secure, and scalable SAP solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Leadership

• Lead the design and implementation of SAP D&S military operations processes.
• Translate military operational and logistics requirements into SAP D&S solutions.
• Act as the functional lead and subject matter expert for military operations within SAP.

Procurement & Inventory Management

• Configure and manage defence procurement processes within SAP MM.
• Support military-specific procurement scenarios (framework agreements, long-lead items, controlled materials).
• Design and optimise inventory management processes for depots, bases, and forward locations.
• Support batch, serialised, and classified materials handling.

Logistics & Warehouse Integration

• Integrate SAP D&S with:
  • SAP EWM for advanced warehouse and depot operations
  • SAP SD for distribution, issue, and return processes
  • SAP FI/CO for financial tracking, settlement, and budgeting
• Ensure end-to-end visibility across the military supply chain.

Operational Readiness & Reporting

• Support force readiness, stock availability, and operational reporting.
• Enable traceability of equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Align SAP processes with military operational cycles and mission planning.

Project Delivery

• Participate in full life cycle SAP implementations (design ? build ? test ? deploy ? support).
• Support data migration, cutover planning, and go-live activities.
• Lead or support UAT and training for military users.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure solutions comply with defence security, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Support role and authorisation design in secure environments.
• Work closely with cybersecurity teams and defence stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• 8+ years SAP functional experience, with strong focus on MM, Logistics, or Defence solutions.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Defence & Security (D&S/DFPS) or similar defence solutions.
• Strong knowledge of military logistics, procurement, and inventory management.
• Experience integrating SAP MM with SD, FI/CO, and EWM.
• Experience working in secure or classified environments.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Defence & Security.
• Knowledge of NATO/MoD logistics standards and terminology.
• Experience in military operations, defence logistics, or public sector programmes.
• Active SC/DV security clearance.
