Title: Project Engineer/Architect (forensic/investigation) Location: Chicago, IL Direct-hire/Onsite Must have: AutoCAD, Revit, Design, investigation or forensic of structures. Job Description: The Project Engineer/Architect will be responsible for performing a wide range of forensic investigations related to damage and deterioration of structures as well as condition assessment studies for property owners and managers, under the direction of senior staff.

The work includes evaluations of commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and municipal projects. Most investigations will include the production of a technical report. Additionally, the Project Engineer/Architect will occasionally develop design drawings and technical specifications for the repair and restoration of the structures they investigate, under the guidance and direction of senior staff.

The position offers the opportunity for direct contact with clients, working both independently and as part of a team. Superior oral and written communication skills are a must. Applicants must possess experience in or the desire to learn the evaluation of entire structures (from foundations to roofing) as well as the investigation of failures and building problems.

Position requires frequent local and occasional regional travel. Responsibilities Conducting investigations and assessments, typically under the guidance and direction of senior staff, in order to prepare accurate technical reports and repair documents Managing multiple assignments concurrently Perform all aspects of repair design tasks and drafting Assist Project Managers and other senior staff with technical tasks as may be assigned Develop technical specifications Train, mentor, and guide Staff Engineers and Interns as requested Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Architecture from an accredited engineering or architecture school; Other degrees will be considered based on relevant experience 2+ years' experience Strong team player with effective internal & external verbal and written communication skills Prior design and/or investigation experience preferred Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit Experience with MS Office applications Physical Requirements: Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs Ability/willingness to climb ladders and scaffolding, work from heights, walk roofs, access crawl spaces and other areas of limited accessibility Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
