JOB OVERVIEWThe senior project manager will be responsible for the success of a project and will coordinate efforts across departments and cross-functional teams. They are problem solvers who facilitate the execution of a project, unblock any situations slowing or halting the progress of the project, and report progress to executives.

They drive team members to see a birds-eye view of the project and guide them toward achieving their shared goals. Plans and coordinates all aspects of assigned IT projects from initiation to delivery in both Agile and non-Agile settings. For Agile efforts, guides teams in following Agile principles and developing an Agile mindset.

For non-Agile efforts, develops detailed project plans and manages all implementation processes including resource allocation, progress tracking, monitoring change control process, testing, documentation, training, and on-time delivery within budget constraints.This position will support the GIA's Product Management team by creating and applying well-formulated Agile best practices to the team's business processes. This position is responsible for implementing appropriate Agile controls such as regular metric reporting from Confluence, Jira, and Smartsheet and implementing necessary standards and metrics for managing the engineering team.

Part of the duties of this role are to act as a Scrum Master who will lead the team using Agile methodologies to accomplish the organizational roadmap and continuous development for current production applications. This role will also manage collecting requirements and formally documenting the requirements to assist the development and quality assurance team.This position will be expected to oversee and manage multiple program control resources and will report to the VP of Product Management and support the Principal Engineering Manager.

The position will require flexibility to work in 24/7 global environment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManages day-to-day operational aspects of projects, paying particular attention to scope and resources. Manages multiple projects in parallel and holds overall responsibility for the successful completion of projects.

Ensures interdependencies are identified and planned for.Acts as the main point of contact for operational aspects of the project.Scopes projects based on stakeholder input of requirements and specifications.

Effectively defines, communicates, and gains stakeholder agreement on the scope of assigned projects. Ensures the participation and commitment of project stakeholders.Creates detailed project plans to monitor and track progress by identifying deliverables, milestones, resources, timelines, and risks.

Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and distributed appropriately. Tracks issues and manages risks during project execution.Lead a scrum team using Agile methodologies and Scrum practices to facilitate ideation, development, quality assurance, and operational support of multiple productsMaintains effective communication methods with stakeholders and provides regular updates on project status.

Communicates project status, risks, and mitigation plans. Facilitates regular status meetings with the project team and stakeholders.Creates and presents weekly status reports, time usage reports, and expense reports (eg tracking of and full utilization of third-party vendor hours).

Implements and follows a change management plan.Ensures all project goals are met within the timeline and budget.Depending on project methodology (Agile or non-Agile), manage multiple projects utilizing whatever project methodology is appropriate.

Monitors project progress using Agile metrics and provide regular reports to management. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.Collaborate with product owners and teams to develop project plans, backlogs, and sprint goals.

Ensure a clear understanding of project objectives and priorities.Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Remove impediments to team progress and maintain a high level of transparency.

Executes replicable solutions to reduce work and process inefficienciesAct as a bridge between development teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency in project progress.Promotes a culture of quality by working with QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and successful releases.Ensures compliance with the organization's policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)Project Management:Outstanding workshop, meeting, and conference facilitation skills, with demonstrable knowledge of how to facilitate attendee participation and collaboration in both small and large teams. Utilizes strong problem-solving skills to manage shifting priorities, timelines, and requirements.

Exceptional project management skills including scheduling, documentation, and prioritization. Adeptness with project tracking and budget management technologies. Experience with and knowledge of a variety of project frameworks such as agile and waterfall.

Problem-solving: Identify potential problems, articulate/classify issues, and be able to determine next steps by referencing existing policies and procedures; apply sound analytical and reasoning skills during the problem-solving process; analyze the data gathered and reach a solution or provide a summary for a management decision when required. Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. Anticipates potential problems either ahead of time or during education and creates solutions to ensure projects are delivered on schedule.

Communication skills: Communicate professionally and collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, including senior leadership, and proactively seek guidance and feedback from others or more experienced team members (actively listen and communicate with others in a timely & professional manner). Effectively present technical and non-technical information. Ability to facilitate meetings and drive to consensus.

Customer Service Mindset: Lead with professionalism and the customer in mind; stay current with customer needs and strategies; utilize formal and informal written communication methods to present updates and findings; and facilitate project meetings to diverse audiences (eg, senior management, stakeholders/customers, technical staff).Time management: Approach work in an organized and systematic manner. Plans work and time effectively to manage conflicting or shifting priorities and achieve goals aligned with the business needs.

Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of project techniques, tools, and methodologies. Strong computer and software skills including Excel, Word, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Jira, etc.Scrum/Agile: Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum principles and practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequired:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology2-4 years of project management experience in managing moderate to large scale projects 2+ years using Agile/Scrum master methodologiesPreferred:Master's degree is preferred.Prior experience coding/programmingPMP or similar project management certification.Experience in Business, Education, R&D, and IT environments working closely with business applications, reporting, and technical infrastructure.
