The company

Paramark helps Marketers optimize their spend across any number of channels and programs. There are proven scientific ways to do this, but they are poorly understood and practiced by only a tiny fraction of teams. Companies waste millions on campaigns that don't work, while failing to invest in critical long-term initiatives simply because they're harder to measure. Most are sorely lacking in both measurement and experimentation capability.

We're fixing this by creating a system of record that teams use to understand and forecast the impact of their Marketing, as well as to experiment with new ideas. The opportunity is huge: 300k+ mid-market businesses worldwide, spending $1T on marketing annually, with a large chunk of that going to waste. Our target customer spends between $10M and $100M on Marketing annually.

We founded the company in 2023 and are seeing strong traction. Our customers include brands like Square, Chime, Ramp, Haus Labs, and dozens more.

We work 3-5 days a week from our office in San Francisco. We truly believe the best results come from in-person collaboration, but we also want to strike the right balance and give everyone the flexibility they need to enjoy life outside of the office. Our existing team respects the need to not have work be your life, but understands the importance of scaling a new business in a collaborative environment.

We've raised $8M from Greylock and several prominent CXO-level advisors and angels from companies like Open AI, Dropbox, Salesforce, Asana.

The opportunity Your team
  • You'll join our five-person solutions engineering team, working closely with our small data science and software engineering teams.
  • We believe that the best teams are driven from the bottom up. We're excited for how you will influence us.
Your role
  • Performing data analysis
    • You will be analyzing our customers' marketing data and producing the reports that are a core part of our offering.
    • Our model outputs are more than just numbers. You\'ll use your understanding of our customers and their marketing spend to judge whether a given result is reasonable or not. If you have no marketing experience, don\'t worry, we\'ll teach you!
    • This includes end to end operation of our data workflows. You will be collecting data, cleaning it, training our ML models, and assessing model fit. You will also analyze the model to understand what it means and communicate that to the rest of our team. We will teach you how!
  • Balancing quality and speed
    • You will ensure the high quality of our analyses, while also providing them in a timely fashion. This requires both a vigilant and attentive mindset and the flexibility to consider different approaches.
    • When you make tradeoffs against either quality or speed, you will communicate them openly with the team and be open to feedback.
    • Since we work with sensitive customer data, quality and security are paramount for us. You will take this responsibility personally.
  • Collaborating with the product engineering and growth advisory teams
    • The product engineering team is building internal and customer-facing products to simplify our data workflows and to provide a delightful experience for the customer. You will share feedback with them to help them prioritize the work on their roadmap.
    • The growth advisory team is in constant contact with the customer to guide them on their journey to adopt our marketing measurement method. You will help them understand your findings so they can share them with the customer.
  • Prototyping automation
    • As you see opportunities to automate your work, you will script simple tools to do so. You'll experiment with AI and simpler automation tools to make yourself more efficient, and you'll share your successes and failures with the product engineering team so they can incorporate them into our application.
You Your experience and skills
  • Fluent in python and SQL (2+ years of experience). You don't need to understand every language feature, but you should be comfortable writing clean python code while keeping it simple. You should be able to write SQL with outer joins, aggregations, inline views, and type conversions.
  • Experience working with real-world data (2+ years of experience). You've worked with real-world datasets and learned how to produce high quality code/scripts in the face of data quality issues and poorly documented schemas.
  • Spike in attention to detail. You produce high quality results in complex situations, and you've stood as the quality backstop for your work.
  • Strong communication skills. You're able to communicate a complex technical issue in a simple fashion to your teammates, and you keep them up to date on the status of your tasks and deliverables.
  • Handling ambiguity. You've faced ambiguous situations and demonstrated an ability to get help as needed to make progress.
  • Responsibility for delivery. You take full responsibility for delivery of your tasks, and when you commit to something, you follow through.
Your interests
  • Learning marketing, data science, and machine learning. You'll have a lot to learn, and it will require hard work. We are excited to teach you and to learn from you.
  • Creating happy customers. Your choices will be guided by a passion to make our customers happy.
  • Creating a warm and welcoming company culture. Building a great product is only the beginning for us. We're equally passionate about building a company that we still want to work at 10 years from now, and you will play a huge role in making this happen.
Benefits and culture
  • Many of us have kids, family lives, and health problems to manage. We don't think early stage startup life requires 18 hour days, or even 12 hour days. We're intent on building a different kind of culture, one that is truly sustainable. That means reasonable working hours (we're out of the office before 6), taking a break when we need it, and checking in with each other. Our Purpose, Mission, and Values guide us.
  • Simple Time off policy : all federal holidays plus 4 weeks of PTO per year. Health comes first, and everyone needs to take time off to recharge and rejuvenate.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with 100% of employee premiums/50% of family premiums covered.
