We're helping grow an insurtech company building modern systems that power underwriting, claims, pricing, and policy workflows. Their mission is to replace Legacy processes with scalable, data-driven software. They're a small, high-impact engineering team where senior engineers play a key role in shaping both the product and the technical direction.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer with Python experience to help architect, build, and scale core Back End systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning complex problems end-to-end, mentoring others, and making thoughtful technical decisions in a regulated but evolving space.
You'll work closely with product, data, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable systems that directly support real-world insurance operations.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade Back End services in Python
- Own critical components of the platform, from architecture through deployment
- Design and evolve APIs that support insurance workflows (policies, claims, underwriting, pricing, integrations)
- Work with relational databases and data pipelines handling large, structured datasets
- Drive best practices around code quality, testing, observability, and performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally to turn business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong, hands-on experience with Python in production
- Experience building Back End or full-stack systems at scale
- Solid understanding of system design, APIs, and data modeling
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Comfortable operating with autonomy in a small or growing team
Nice to Have
- Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask
- Exposure to insurance, fintech, healthcare, or other regulated industries
- Experience modernizing or integrating with Legacy systems
- Familiarity with Front End technologies (React, TypeScript) for full-stack work
- Interest or experience with data engineering, automation, or ML-adjacent systems
