Role
We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help build and evolve Journey Agents within Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO). Journey Agents power AI-assisted journey orchestration that enables brands to deliver personalized, Real Time customer experiences across channels.
This is a backend-leaning full-stack role focused on building agent execution, orchestration, and observability capabilities, while also contributing to user-facing experiences that make agent behavior understandable, explainable, and trustworthy. You\'ll collaborate closely with AI teams, product managers, and other AJO engineering teams to bring agent concepts into production-ready systems.
Journey Agents are central to Adobe's vision for intelligent, AI-driven customer journeys. In this role, you'll help shape how agents collaborate, reason, and act-while ensuring these systems are reliable, observable, and usable in production. Your work will directly influence how customers build and trust AI-assisted journeys at scale, bridging the gap between emerging agent capabilities and enterprise-grade delivery.
What You\'ll Do
- Build Back End services that power Journey Agent orchestration, analysis and execution.
- Implement AI agent workflows, including agent-to-agent coordination, tool invocation, MCP server interactions, and APIs (gRPC/REST/GraphQL).
- Develop full-stack features, including React-based UIs that expose agent observations, recommendations, and diagnostics.
- Ensure production readiness through testing, monitoring, and performance awareness.
- Contribute to design and code reviews to continuously improve the quality, reliability, and maintainability of agent systems.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor\'s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems.
- Strong Back End development skills in Java/Scala, Node.js, or Python, with solid full-stack experience using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience designing and implementing gRPC, REST, and GraphQL APIs, and integrating services across complex service ecosystems.
- Familiarity with AI agent systems, including orchestrated agent workflows, agent-to-agent communication, tool-calling patterns, and MCP protocol-based architectures.
- Practical experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores, containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
