The Institutional Product Group enables the foundations of Coinbase's institutional business, supporting thousands of large financial institutions. We enable institutions to custody their digital assets and participate in the crypto economy in a secure and safe way. We build a scalable and secure crypto platform supporting hundreds of assets and enabling crypto participation with staking, governance and web3 gateways. The team works on cutting-edge crypto technologies, scalable infrastructure, and UI surfaces across web, mobile, and browser extensions in a fast-paced industry with opportunities to build several new initiatives.

The Prime Onchain Wallet team is seeking experienced Back End engineers to join and help build the next generation of institutional onchain products and features. You will tackle large-scale, complex technical challenges at the intersection of blockchain technology and institutional finance, designing and operating real-time, secure, scalable systems that enable institutions to interact with blockchain networks while adhering to high standards of security and compliance.

What you\'ll be doing:

• Design and deliver high-impact initiatives, including accelerated network onboarding, reliable high-success-rate transaction processing, and the implementation of advanced policy controls for institutional clients.
• Define and execute the team's technical roadmap, aligning with multi-quarter goals and organizational priorities.
• Solve ambiguous, high-impact challenges by deeply understanding customer needs and delivering secure, scalable solutions.
• Uphold high-quality engineering practices through rigorous code reviews, testing, and addressing technical debt.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and ensure the reliability and scalability of Back End systems.
• Guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their growth and elevating the team's technical capabilities.
• Identify opportunities for innovation, propose solutions, and adopt cutting-edge technologies like MPC and cryptographic protocols.
• Partner with Blockchain, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver seamless integrations and align on dependencies.

What we look for

• You have 5+ years of professional experience in Back End development, with expertise in Golang, GraphQL, REST APIs, Kubernetes, AWS, and blockchain protocols (eg, EVM, Solana, UTXO).
• You write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code, and have a proven track record of building resilient, scalable, and secure microservices.
• You have experience leading complex technical projects end-to-end, mentoring engineers, and driving technical excellence within a team.
• You thrive on solving ambiguous, large-scale, and highly complex problems, and you show a bias for action to deliver impactful solutions.
• You have hands-on experience with blockchain network integrations, cryptographic systems (eg, MPC), and secure key management.
• You are passionate about understanding customer needs and building solutions that enable institutions to securely operate onchain.
• You excel at working cross-functionally with product, security, and infrastructure teams.
• You are excited about contributing to Coinbase's mission of creating an open financial system and driving institutional onchain adoption.

Nice to haves:

• While primarily a Back End role, experience with full-stack development, including Front End frameworks, is a plus.
• You are passionate about blockchain technology and have hands-on experience using or building crypto exchange applications, dApps, or Web3 tools.
• Familiarity with advanced cryptographic techniques, such as zero-knowledge proofs or secure multi-party computation (MPC), is a strong plus.
• Understanding of SOC1/SOC2 standards or experience working in regulated environments is beneficial.

Compensation and eligibility: Base salary range shown. Total compensation also includes bonus eligibility and benefits.
