SOC Manager - Inside IR35 - SC Cleared

The SOC Management Manager is responsible for the leadership, governance and performance of Security Operations Centre capabilities supporting a secure defence programme. The role ensures effective monitoring, detection and response across classified environments, working closely with incident response and threat teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own SOC operating model, processes and performance management
  • Ensure effective monitoring and detection across secure environments
  • Oversee SOC analysts, tooling and service providers where applicable
  • Drive continuous improvement of detection use cases and response workflows
  • Coordinate closely with incident response and vulnerability teams
  • Provide senior-level reporting on security posture and operational effectiveness
  • Ensure SOC activities align with defence security requirements

Required Experience & Capability

  • Proven experience managing SOC operations in secure or regulated settings
  • Strong understanding of threat detection, monitoring and response workflows
  • Experience overseeing teams, suppliers or managed services
  • Ability to balance operational effectiveness with governance and assurance
  • Confident engaging senior technical and programme stakeholders

Security & Working Environment

  • SC clearance required (minimum)
  • Classified systems and restricted operating environments
  • Hybrid working: Reading site, 2-3 days per week

Contract Summary

  • Contract role, inside IR35, £475 - £525 p/d
  • Reading-based, hybrid working, 2-3 days per week on site (expansible)
